MEG Maximus
Hi all finally after 2 months I had my first
game of MEG Maximus vs my good friend (and godfather of my son) George.
My Later Northern Song vs his French Ordonnance
I had
2 TUGs of Cavalry bow
9 Tugs of Mix foot (Pole arm/ Crossbow)
1 TUG bow foot
George had
3 Tugs (6 bases each) Superior Knights (armored
Horse)
5 Tus of Longbow foot
1 Tug of Crossbow foot
36 shooting bases for my opponent and 60 shooting
bases for me
The teren placed was very open with only one
hill on Georges side and a big vineyard on my side of the table.
The initial set up
George Won the scouting and set up our forces.
My foot was in a line (covering most of the
table) and my cavalry was one per side.
George set up his knights on my right flank and
the foot in the center.
My opponents plan was obvious from the start,
the knights would charge in brake my foot and then turn and hit me from the
side.
The french
My plan was to delay him on the right and use
my cavalry on the left to hit him on the flank.
The plans are great but when the battle start
no plan survives.
After movement on turn one we had no charges
for turn two but we had lots of shooting.
The Chinese
The shooting was deadly I got 11 hits on the opposing
foot and George got 9 hits on my foot ( I was a bit lucky in the fact that my
hits made more base loses).
Having made a dent on the foot I pressed
forward in the center and left while George started to fall back.
The knights also pressed forwards and charges
would be inevitable next turn.
After the first shooting
Turn Three saw the knight’s charge in while the
opposing foot traded shoots.
The first impact of the knights was not great
(white vs green dice) but in the melee that followed I started losing bases.
The knight
George being a great general broke off at the
end of the turn with the knights as to charge in again in the next turn taking
advantage of me as I had lost lots of Pole arm bases and had crossbow men in
front ranks.
Turn four saw the knight’s charge again on the
right while I charged with some foot in the center. I the movement phase my
left most cavalry was in place for flank charges on the enemy foot.
No more Chinese on the right
I lost 3 Tugs of foot from the knights in the
melee but I still had my right most cavalry keeping the knights in place.
The center before the end
Turn five saw Georges center braking as he lost
5 tugs of foot (3 from battle and the rest from Kab tests) It was very close as
I had 2 tugs one wound from braking as well.
Finally the knights destroyed my cavalry on the
right but it was too late
