MEG Maximus

Hi All

Yesterday I had a very nice game of MEG Maximus

My Syracusans vs Later French Ordonance

My list was comprised of 7 Tugs of Hoplites, 3 Tugs of Gallic, 1 Tug of Greek Cavalry and an Ally Numidian (1 Tug,2 Sugs)

My opponent had Lots of Pikes (one was a Kiel), Lots of Pbow and some knights

I out scouted my opponent.

I put the Numidian on my far left I deployed my Hoplites in the center and right, my Gallic foot on my left .

My opponent put 2 Pikes a Pbow and a knight in front of his camp while the rest of his army was on my right .

I was attacker and moved up with my Numidian horse at full speed (double move) while the rest of my army moved at normal speed.

In round 2 the first shooting started and my Numidian Horse started taking hits (never put horse vs Pbow) but at least I was giving back (skilled jav vs Pbow).

I want to say that neither of us had played much with Kiel and we got something's wrong.

Round 3 I started falling back with the 2 Tugs of Lsp in front of the Kiel, while my other spear Tugs started getting ready to charge Pbows. On the other flank 2 Sugs of Numidians were shooting at a Knight Tug, while i was spending cards for the Gallic foot not to charge the Pikes.

In round 4 and 2 tugs of Lsp charged Pbows, a group of crossbowmen charged a Tug of Lsp from the side and the Kiel was ready to charge my foot.

Starting round 5 the Numidians broke the knight. The Kiel charged the foot and I was starting to get ahead in the battle vs the Pbow, crossbows.

In the end I destroyed 5 tugs of the enemy (broke the army) and i lost 3 Tugs (2 were lost vs the Kiel)

I have to say after playing vs the Kiel that it is a Bulldozer (Sup, Pike, 12 bases) I was playing white vs yellow or white vs red (after i took some casualties).

The Numidians (4th game in a row) played very well.
I think my opponent should have stayed in half the board using the big hill in the center as anchor. Imagine if he had the Kiel supported by 2 Tugs of Pike and further the Pbows, while the crossbow and some Pbow held the Hill, the knights in reserve.
It would have been a nightmare for me to attack.

MEG Maximus

Hi All

Yesterday I had a very nice game of MEG Maximus

My Syracusans vs Hussite

My list was comprised of 7 Tugs of Hoplites, 2 Tugs of Gallic, 1 Tug of Italian Mercenaries, 1 Tug of Greek Cavalry and an Ally Numidian (1 Tug,2 Sugs)

My opponent had Lots of war wagons, Lots of artillery and some foot and horse

I out scouted my opponent.

I sent the Numidian on a flank march while I deployed my Hoplites in the center, my Gallic foot on my right.

My opponent put his war wagons and artillery in a line and waited for me.

I was attacker and did nothing (waiting for the flank to get the red card needed).

In round 2 I got the red card I needed for the flank to enter and informed my opponent from which side it would be coming, He had 1 Tug (4 bases) of CL cavalry waiting on that side and started sending a second Tug of CL to support them.

I want to say that neither of us had played much with war wagons and we got something's wrong.

Round 3 My foot came close to the enemy and started getting shot up (even with white dice). My Numidians came in and were set up to start shooting at the enemy.

In round 4 My infantry charged (not a good idea vs war wagons) while my enemy charged the Numidians with his CL (not a good idea). I started taking casualties in my foot Tugs while my enemies CL were destroyed.

Starting round 5 after numerous back and forth's it all came down to two combats.

My spearmen fighting his polearm men. We both needed two Tugs to break and in the final dice role we both broke.

The second battle I've used the Syracusan and they did good. Especially the Numidians have never let me down.
I have also started taking a liking to the Gallic foot

We have to read up on the war wagon rules though

MEG Maximus

Hi All

Today I had a very nice game of MEG Maximus

My Syracusans vs Later republican Roman

My list was comprised of 7 Tugs of Hoplites, 2 Tugs of Gallic, 1 Tug of Italian Mercenaries, 1 Tug of Greek Cavalry and an Ally Numidian (1 Tug,2 Sugs)

My opponent had 2 Tugs Exceptional Legion, 4 Tugs Sup legion, 4 Tugs Average Legion (He had no horse)

I out scouted my opponent.

I sent the Numidian on a flank march while I deployed my Hoplites in the center, my Gallic foot on my left and the Italians on the right.

My opponent put his foot in a line sup next average tugs and kept the exceptional in reserve.

I was attacker and started by passing (discarding cards) and when my opponent moved all of his army I moved the Italians via the rough terrain.

In round 2 I got the red card I needed for the flank to enter and informed my opponent from which side it would be coming, He had 1 Tug (4 bases) of exceptional foot waiting for me.

The rest of his foot had advanced a bit.

Round 3 On my far left the Romans attacked tha Gallic foot and some Hoplites. My foot moving up as to pin his line and the Numidians coming in, a Tug of sup Numidians came in strait for the side of the Roman line .

In round 4 The two armies came into contact, the Numidians hit the side of the Roman line while the Sugs started taking shots at the exceptional foot (mostly black dice). The Hoplites also charged the front of the Romans the Numidians had hit.

Starting round 5 The Numidian & Hoplites managed to break the Roman foot, My Gallic foot helped by some Cavalry (which was in turn destroyed) managed to break 1 roman Tug, the Numidian skirmishers destroyed the exceptional foot.

After the KaB test I had lost 2 Tugs and the Romans had lost 5

After the battle and talking with my opponent it was obvious to both of us that if he had taken some cavalry the battle would have ended up differently.

The Numidians wrecked havoc on the Roman flanks
