Pz8

Pz8

Hi all
Had another great game of Pz8 a few days back

The US army attacked a German position

The US had 3 Armored Divisions + 1 armored division in reserve while the Germans had 3 depleted Pz Grenadier divisions

The game was actually very interesting (I stopped taking pictures at some point)

The Germans had each of their divisions around a strong point (Hill in the center and two town)

The US attacked each position with one division and actually managed to take the two towns

But the German hill could not be taken
Great fun hope to have another game next week

Pz 8

Pz 8

Hi all

We had another game of Pz 8 Divisional Modern this time.

We set up a game in 1985 W. German vs USSR
The Germans had 2 Pz Grenadier Brigades
1 Pz Brigade and the Divisional assets in a small task force

The USSR had 3 BTR Brigades
1 Tank Brigade and the Divisional assets in a small task force

We rolled and the Germans would defend the two villages on the map with the USSR attacking

The Germans went first and opted to defend one village with 1 PzGr Brigade and the other village with the task force while the second PzGr Brigade was stationed behind an hill as reserves the Pz Brigade was to start rolling to enter the table after turn 2

The USSR attacked on 3 lines.
2 BTR Brigades attacked the left village (defended by the task force)
1 BTR Brigade and the task force attacked the right village (defended by the PzGr Brigade)
While the tank Brigade was in the middle in reserve.

The USSR attack on the right was a decoy and after a few battles in and around the village the Soviets pulled back.
The fact that the German Pz Brigade came in to support the village also helped the Soviet commander to pull back.

On the left village the Soviets attacked with 2 BTR Brigades and 1 Tank Brigade
even the PzGr Brigade that came to help the task force in the town could not do much.

Finally the Soviets took the village on the left but that was not enough to win them the battle.

As always the rules were very nice and the battle went without a hitch.
Nick (my opponent) had a very good time and even though he is a fun o FFT 3 he enjoyed the low complexity of the set.

Pz8

Hi all

I havent posted for a few weeks but Iv been playing games so Pz8
I first got the rules a few years back and have been playing Balkan wars with them but my friend Pz Takis wanted us to try the WW2 divisional rules again so I put together a small ( 4 Divisions) game

Its 1944 the Allies are in France and the Germans are trying to stop them from taking a towns.

The Germans have 1 Infantry Division (Poor) mostly eastern ex prisoners (6 Inf battalions and 3 Art battalions) with which they are holding the town and crossroads.

One Armored German Division (2 Pz battalions, 3 Pz Grenadier battalions & 2 Art battalions) will be rolling to see if it enters as to reinforce them.

The US on the other hand have 2 Armored Divisions (4 Tank battalions, 3 Mech inf battalions & 2 Art battalions each) entering from the other edge of the map

In the first turns the US move closer to the town and get in positions to attack

The German Artillery tries to slow the US down but 3 1s are never good

On turn 4 the US start their assault on the town and battles start all around

I used small die to keep track of each bases hits

The US forces using their supirior numbers are having no problem clearing the town and the crossroads

but then the German reinforcements arrive and attack the US northern forces

The battle in the north is fierce but the German Armor is Elite (+1 to all combat and moral rolls) and it starts to get an advantage just in time as the town is almost out of defenders

A few turn after that Both commander start pulling their forces back as to regroup and repair
We both had lots of fun with the game. The US forces had the upper hand until the German armor arrived.

The rules are very nice and produce an realistic outcome.
We will be using them again in the future
