MEG Pacto

Hi All

Had a nice game of MEG Pacto a few days ago with a new player to the game.

My Cerenean Greeks faced off against Free company

I had Lots of spear men, chariots and an ally with flexible foot and chariots

My opponent had some knights, longbow & crossbow, and heavy foot 2HC

After we set up the terrain my opponent out scouted me.

I aimed to have my long spears against the knights and the chariots vs the longbow & crossbow. I also had more Tugs and wanted to out flank him from one side.

My plan did not go exactly as planned but it got the job done.

I charged the longbow & crossbow with my chariots and thankfully I did not take much damage from the shooting.

The knights charged my chariots (not good at all) but as I had more Tugs i started hitting units from the sides.

My opponent made a valiant attempt to stop me but he had few Tugs (I think new players should start with armies that have many Tugs)

In the end I lost 2 Tugs and I broke the opponent.

As always Pacto is a very nice and fast variant of MEG that only need a few bases.

MEG Maximus

Hi All

Had another great game o MEG Maximus on Saturday

My Cerenean Greeks vs Later Macedon

My list had

1xTUG Xystophoroi, 2xTUG Chariots, 1x SUG javelin men, 7x TUG hoplites and a Libyan ally with 1x TUG chariots, 2x TUG warriors

My opponent had

2x TUG cavalry, 1x TUG Thracian's, 2x TUG long spears, 1x SUG light horse, 2x SUG archers, 4x TUG pike

I was attacker and after the placing of terrain we kicked off.

My plan was to attack from the left (2xTug warriors, 2x Tug chariots) and from the right (1x Tug Xystophoroi,1x Tug Chariots, 1x Sug javelin men) while my Hoplites in the center kept the enemy foot occupied.

My opponents plan was to hit me with the Pikes and kill me off before I encircled him.

I started with full moves on the sides and my opponent moved his pikes to intercept my cavalry/chariots (especially on my right).

After some maneuvering from both sides I managed to charge with my Xystophorioi his Thracian's (the best I could hope for), while my Chariots hit his cavalry on the far right.

On the left the enemies skirmishing and bad cards for my ally slowed me down.

Following my charge on the Thracian's and the enemy cavalry (both of which broke after melee) my Hoplites that had engaged the opposite pikes as to protect the horse found themselves in a bad position (2v1 on the charge and 2v1 or 2v0 in the melee).

My enemy pressed in the center and I only managed to get my cavalry back as to save some of my hoplite Tugs.

In the end my opponent broke but I had lost 3 Tugs and a further 2 were in danger of braking (1 or 2 wound needed).

A very enjoyable battle and tense at the same time.

MEG Maximus

Hi All

Had another game on Saturday for our MEG campaign.

My Bahrain vs Later Crusader

it's my 2nd game vs Crusader and Kostas (My opponent) is a very good player.

Kostas opted for a secured flank (Sea) and one Rough hill while i placed a woods.

After we set up Kostas noticed that some points were missing (I had a fake ambush marker in play but I sent 3 Tugs of flexible horse on flank march)

Turn 1

I moved my battle line of spearmen up the table while Kostas maneuvered his knights to try and outflank me

Turn 2

I got the red card i needed for the flank to enter nd unannounced it to Kostas while we both continued moving to get the drop on the other.

Turn 3

on my left my infantry outflanked Kostas infantry and i was ready to charge.

My Horsemen (long spear/ average/ unprotected) came in 18 bases strong (double moving).

Kostas turned 2 Tugs of knights to come and face me.

Turn 4

I charged on the left against Kostas foot.

My Cavalry continued to move for the baggage train.

While Kostas was ready to charge with a Tug of Knights vs some of my foot on the right

Turn 5

I charged the Baggage and some Poor bowmen with my cavalry.

My foot on the left broke the first enemy Tug and slammed into the second one.

Turn 6

Kostas having lost the foot on the left and the baggage train opted to surrender.
